Today, Food Banks Canada released its annual report on hunger, Hunger Count 2010. The report is a snapshot of food bank usage across Canada. This year the report shows the highest level of food bank use on record. In March 2010, 867,948 people were served by food banks...that's just one month!
Operation Fruit Rescue Edmonton (OFRE) is a cool little idea that is growing to be big. The ‘coles notes’ version of the program is that people who own property with fruit trees or shrubs and don't want to or cannot harvest the fruit, can connect with people willing and eager to pick it for them.
